How to Create Engaging Content for LinkedIn Profile?

Are you getting traction from your LinkedIn Profile? You may need to produce engaging Content for LinkedIn ProfileEngaging Content for LinkedIn Profile

Ask yourself, do you know how to engage them and expand your LinkedIn Network by adding targeted content?

Before you read further, remember, LinkedIn is not Facebook or Instagram. If you treat your LinkedIn profile the way you treat any other social media platform, you will fail to engage your network.

As a LinkedIn Profile Optimization professional, I review and optimize countless profiles every week. Most of these profiles are categorized as near dormant.

LinkedIn is a very special social media platform. It should be treated uniquely too. For a common user, LinkedIn is boring. When I do LinkedIn coaching, my first target is to emphasize the need for setting a goal and based on that I help my clients in creating a content targeting strategy.

Creating engaging content for LinkedIn is an essential skill in order to expand your relevant LinkedIn network.  Given the influx of boring content on the respective social media platform these days, we need to keep feeding LinkedIn Profile with fresh, original and exciting content, consistently. Failing that, profile outreach remains limited to nothing!

In this post, I am discussing the importance of creating engaging content for LinkedIn and three quick tips. If you follow these simple guidelines, you will soon master the technique of creating interesting, stimulating and engaging content for your readership:

  1. Short, concise videos capture attention on LinkedIn

Most people spend hours on using various social media platforms. However, compared to Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat, statistically speaking, LinkedIn is used way far less by most people.

Majority of the people use LinkedIn two hours in a week only, browsing through it fast. They will not find reading a long article or a link to a blog post interesting.

Therefore, short, concise, and clear-cut videos with a length of no longer than 10 minutes are very effective in conveying information and creating engagement on your profile. But for some, even 10 minutes is too long to watch. LinkedIn content marketing experts suggest a 90 second video is a good tool for quick engagement.

  1. Post a success story

Success stories motivate readers to stay on a profile, read and engage with content.

Posting a success story can break the monotonous informational content that includes plain facts or tips on your LinkedIn profile – adding some flavor to it.

Success stories could be from anywhere or anyone – whether it is a success story of your struggle, or a success story of someone you helped or mentored – providing inspiration to your audience and capturing the attention of other people effectively.

You can pick a story that inspired you, and add that to your profile. Tag few connections to gain traction.

  1. Bust a myth

LinkedIn provides an excellent opportunity to showcase your leadership and professional capabilities.

Busting a myth within your own field creates your image as an expert within your own field, which attracts audience. A way to bust myths is to list down common beliefs or myths people may have regarding your field of expertise and write down your experience or insider knowledge regarding the false assumptions.

You can use LinkedIn’s Poll feature creatively too to project yourself as an expert.

Over the last couple of years, LinkedIn has added several interesting features to help users. However, not many explore the potential. I encourage LinkedIn Profile Users to experiment with  these tools to help find their positioning as a subject matter expert. LinkedIn has provided the tools, use of these tools effectively to project our profile is our job. Take the time to add LinkedIn features and sections, and you will be on your way to getting more visibility, PR, and hopefully more business!
